Why Nicaragua with THE VACATION PROJECT?

Our itinerary has been curated with our partners to give you access to exclusive experiences. We have worked with our local tour guide to create a unique and off the beaten path experience that includes both a true vacation with a sustainable volunteering project. Through our partnership with the Glasswing International, we have unlocked an incredible opportunity to make necessary repairs that will positively impact the children of Granada - all within one week!

You will enjoy a day of surfing down a volcano while you are in Nicaragua, which is one of the only places in the world that you can do this. You will also see a range of the country from world class beaches to the city. We have coordinated safe & comfortable transport from our other locations on the itinerary to make sure you get to experience this part of the world in all of it's awesomeness.

On this trip, you will have an awesome local guide - Carlos - who is our partner in Nicaragua.  Carlos is born & bred in Nicaragua and is an expert on what to see and do in his home country.

Who is our NGO partner?

Glasswing International is a non-profit orginization that addresses the systemic causes of poverty and violence through education, health and community empowerment.

Founded in San Salvador, El Salvador with the  simple concept to: foster change by investing in a community’s existing strengths and resources – its infrastructure and its people. The Glasswing logo reflects the butterfly which is native to Mexico and Central America, with transparent wings that represent the organization’s commitment to transparency. Just like the butterfly effect, they believe one small act can achieve great things.

Glasswing and The Vacation Project share the same principals of economic and environmental sustainability to action long lasting tangible change in local communities. This is one of the many reasons that makes them our valued  partner. We know you will feel the same after working with them!

Traveling to Nicaragua with TVP was by far one of my favorite travel experiences. Everything about the trip far exceeded my expectations. The volunteer project was eye opening and I felt like I really made a difference for the kids at the school we painted. On top of the volunteer project, I felt that TVP curated the perfect vacation at an incredibly reasonable price. They chose the best accommodations, the best places to eat and the best things to do. The people on the trip were AWESOME - everyone from the other travelers, to the guide and the driver were so fun and I’m sure I’ll continue to be in touch with all of them even after the trip. If you’re reading this, just sign up for a trip! You won’t regret it, promise.

I was looking for a chance to give back, and I found it with The Vacation Project. It was a joy to interact with the children of Nicaragua. I had a profound sense of gratitude and optimism after our time there. Oh, and then we went on a boat and got to drink some Pina Coladas and eat fresh guacamole. So that happened.

Q & A with Glasswing International

Team TVP sat down with our friends at Glasswing International to learn a little bit more about them and to share it with all of you. Glasswing International is our partner NGO in Nicaragua, where we will be traveling to from February 17 - February 24, 2018.
